Description

Secret Lab designs and builds video games, cultural technology, and engaging interactive experiences from scratch for console, PC, Mac, web, and mobile.

Secret Lab was founded in 2008 by a team of computer scientists, historians, and technologists.

Secret Lab is currently working I Feel Fine, a narrative adventure game written by Ryan North and funded by Screen Tasmania, Leonardo’s Moon Ship, a puzzle-adventure game written by writer of Ratatouille, Jim Capobianco, and funded by Screen Australia, and the BAFTA- and IGF-winning Night in the Woods.

Secret Lab is the oldest game development studio in lutruwita/Tasmania, and has worked with a diverse range of local, national, and international clients and partners, including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, CSIRO, the National Museum of Australia, Apple, FastMail, Qantas, Microsoft, TasNetworks, Mighty Games, Finji, CoRE Foundation, and Google.

The Secret Lab team has written nearly 30 books, on a range of subjects including software development, game development and design, astrophysics, and artificial intelligence, and leads the wildly popular Yarn Spinner narrative game development tool project.

Secret Lab runs a 4-day work week, and has been based in a Georgian-era sandstone building in the heart of nipaluna/Hobart for the past 10 years.

Secret Lab is proud to be a member of peak industry associations IGEA and TasICT.
